The Burgundy
region of France is beautiful cruising country; add to this the
regions
wines
and cuisine, you have all you need for that perfect holiday!
As
part of our ever expanding service, we are now able to offer the daily services
of a
'Skipper' for those who
would rather not become involved in driving the boat.
It is
not a
boat charter as such, he does not sleep on board,
but will look after
and steer it during the day whilst you are cruising.
After a few days of consuming either of the local wines, Burgundy Red or chilled
Chablis,
you may wish for some
exercise and for a modest fee you will be able
to hire a
bicycle for
riding
on the tow path and exploring the
villages and
small towns along the way.
You
can also hire
a BBQ stove, but here you must be
sure not to set fire
to the surrounding trees or the boat!! It is possible
to arrange a "one way" cruise.
This means you do not have to
look at
all the same things on the way back down that
you
saw on
the way up.
The
Canal du Nivernais is very quiet and it is fair to say that the only thing canal
cruising
in
France has in
common
with canal cruising in England is water! The
canal
winds its
way through
a rural area dotted with little
villages and small
towns,
most of which
have charming restaurants
just waiting to be discovered.
All the locks
are manned by
Lock Keepers
so you do not have to get involved unless
you want to. All you have to do is
throw your
rope ashore
and they will do the
rest.
